North Allegheny senior, Eliot Maravich, was offered and accepted an appointment to the United States Coast Guard Academy on Wednesday.  Maravich will be sworn in to the USCGA class of 2027 on June 26 at its campus in New London, CT.  He will be continuing his swimming career with the USCGA, which participates in the New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).  The smallest of the nation’s five military service academies, its Corps of Cadets represents the nation’s best and brightest students, ready to serve and lead their country.  Admission to the US Coast Guard Academy is highly competitive with fewer than 300 appointments offered annually. Cadets receive a full tuition scholarship and are guaranteed a position of leadership as commissioned officers in the United States Coast Guard upon graduation.

During his time at North Allegheny, Maravich earned four varsity letters in swimming and water polo.  A four-year starting goalie for the NA boys’ varsity water polo team, Maravich was recognized as a multiple year PA All-State honoree and was a second-team All-State pick the 2022 water polo season.  In swimming, Maravich is a four-time WPIAL qualifier, multiple PIAA qualifier and a proud co-captain of the boys’ varsity swim team.  Additionally, Maravich has been recognized as an honors student and is a member of the National Honors Society.

He will be participating in summer basic training, called SWAB Summer, for seven weeks before the start of regular academic studies this fall where he will be majoring in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
