Ferringer’s 7 Goals Lead NA To Win Over Franklin Regional In Season Opener
Facing off against a PIAA qualifier in Class AA from a season ago, the North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse team earned a convincing 19-9 victory over the Franklin Regional Panthers on Monday night at Newman Stadium. Continuing a trend of strong play in season-opening games, senior Brooke Ferringer netted seven goals to spearhead the Tigers’ victory. A year ago, the Old Dominion commit tallied six goals in a season-opening win over Shaler.
Five of Ferringer’s goals came in the first half as North Allegheny opened up a 14-4 lead by halftime. Joining in the NA barrage on the Franklin Regional net was sophomore attack Skye DePrado, who tallied four goals on the night.
Netting two goals apiece were seniors Ryley McClellan and Paige Jones, and sophomore Katie Oates. Sophomore Makenna Tuman and senior Valerie Davis chipped in with a goal each.
Freshman goalie Tommi Barrante made 10 saves to earn the win in her varsity debut.
With the win, North Allegheny is 1-0 overall and will host Oakland Catholic in another non-section contest on Wednesday night. Start time is slated for 7:15 p.m. at Newman Stadium.
