Four Gold Medal Performances Turned In by NA At WPIAL Individual Finals

North Allegheny accrued four WPIAL gold medals on Wednesday afternoon at the WPIAL Class AAA individual championships at Slippery Rock University.

Isabella Costa won three medals, including two gold at the WPIAL individual finals.

Sophomore Isabella Costa earned three medals on the day, including a first-place effort in the 400m Dash with a personal best time of 57.30. Costa was also a part of the 4×400 quartet, along with senior Arianna Tegtmeier, freshman Maya Currie and freshman Mackenzie Winning, that won WPIAL gold. Senior Alaina Fantaski claimed WPIAL gold in the Javelin Throw.

The trio of Wren Kucler, Robin Kucler and Eva Kynaston dominated the 1600m and 3200m Run. In the 1600m, all three clocked in a new personal best as Wren Kucler took third, Robin Kucler finished fifth and Kynaston crossed the finish line in seventh place. In similar fashion in the 3200m, Wren Kucler took second place with a new personal best and Robin Kucler took fourth with a personal best as well. Kynaston checked in with a seventh place showing for a podium finish.

WPIAL bronze medal performances were turned in by Costa in the Long Jump and freshman Lindsay Breneman in the Pole Vault. Also reaching the podium in their respective events were Currie (4th Place – 400m Dash), Tegtmeier (5th – 200m Dash), Wren Kucler (6th – 800m Run), junior Jamie Frisco (PR 7th Place – Shot Put) and senior Allie Burns (7th – Long Jump).  A seventh-place effort was delivered by the quartet of Currie, Tegtmeier and seniors Chloe Reed and Maddie Wombles in the 4×100 Relay.

The NA Boys were led by senior Owen Curran, who won WPIAL gold in the 110m Hurdles. The 4×800 Relay combination of senior Jackson Pajak, sophomore Jack Bertram, senior Gregory Kossuth and senior Nicholas Betler won WPIAL silver. Bronze medal performances were turned in by Bertram in the 3200m Run and senior Ryan Handron in the Pole Vault.

Also reaching the podium were sophomore Jack Yatchenko (PR 4th Place – Shot Put), sophomore Dylan Langdon (4th Place – High Jump), sophomore Zachary Nash (6th Place – 400m Dash), Pajack (8th Place – 800m Run) and Kossuth (8th Place – 3200m Run).
