Kayla Joyce signs letter of intent to Northwestern

North Allegheny senior goalie Kayla Joyce signed her national letter of intent on Friday morning to attend Northwestern University.

Joyce has been playing field hockey for six years and she has been a goalie from the very start. In the winter, Joyce plays for the Pittsburgh Venom while in the spring, she plays for FHL. Joyce is a two-time WPIAL All-Star and All-WPIAL player, three-time North Allegheny defensive MVP and is ranked in the Max FH Top 150 in the country. She has also been a four-time North Allegheny Scholar Athlete.

In her junior and senior season, the years she was the full-time starter, Joyce made 611 saves, with an 89% save percentage. Her career-high for saves in a game was 48 on September 16, 2023 when the Tigers took on Magnificat (OH).

In 2024, Joyce collected six shutouts with her season-high being 38 saves against Cumberland Valley on September 7. She surpassed 500 saves in her career on September 26 against Pine-Richland.

In her time at North Allegheny, the Tigers got to the WPIAL Championship in 2021 and 2022 while getting to the WPIAL Semifinals in 2023 and 2024.
