
Lady Tigers Level Latrobe, 5-0
In a non-section game at Newman Stadium on Thursday night, the North Allegheny field hockey team won in a rout of Latrobe, 5-0. The Lady Tigers outshot the visiting Wildcats, 27-0, in a one-sided contest.
The Tigers opened the scoring with 23:34 on the clock as junior Hailey Wachowiak converted on a penalty corner for a 1-0 lead. With just 16 seconds remaining in the half, senior Laura Schwendeman cashed in on another penalty corner opportunity for a 2-0 advantage. Schwendeman’s goal was assisted by senior Sam Marien.
Less than four minutes into the second half, North Allegheny struck again on a marker by sophomore Marisa Hess to increase the lead to 3-0.
The Tigers success on penalty corners continued with 10:02 remaining when Wachowiak assisted on a Bridget Russell goal to bring the score to 4-0, NA. Russell returned the favor just over a minute later, assisting on Wachowiak’s second goal of the night to close out a 5-0 victory.
North Allegheny improves to 4-1 overall following the non-section win. The Lady Tigers host Novi (Michigan) on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
