Lady Tigers Win Championship, NA Boys Take 4th At Butler Invitational

The North Allegheny track and field team delivered a championship winning performance on Friday at the 59th Annual Butler Invitational. The Lady Tigers grabbed first place with a team score of 89, while the NA Boys claimed fourth place with a team score of 32.

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers, four gold medal performances were turned in by the 4×400 Relay Team, junior Izzy Costa (Long Jump), sophomore Lindsay Breneman (Pole Vault) and sophomore Mackenzie Winning (400m Dash). Along with Winning, the 400m Dash was dominated by North Allegheny with Costa and sophomore Maya Currie taking second and fourth place, respectively, in the event. In the 3200m Run, senior Eva Kynaston crossed the finish line in first place, followed closely behind by senior Erin McGoey in sixth place. Additional silver medal performances were turned in by Costa in the High Jump and senior Jamie Frisco in the Shot Put. Along with Breneman’s gold in the Pole Vault, senior Sophie Aglietti took fourth place in the same event. Junior Kendall Lucas placed fourth in the 800m Run.

Helping the NA Boys to a fourth-place team effort was senior Zach Duckworth (Pole Vault) and junior Zach Nash (400m Dash) with silver medal performances. Junior Dylan Langdon garnered fourth place in the High Jump, while junior Jack Bertram placed fifth in the 3200m Run. Seventh place showings were turned in by the 4×400 Relay Team, junior Grey Lowman (300m Hurdles), and junior Greg Abel (800m Run). Nash also placed eighth in the 200m Dash.

The North Allegheny track and field team will return to section action on Tuesday with a visit to Pine-Richland to face the Rams and Fox Chapel Foxes.
