Laswell and Bornt’s Four-Hit Days Lead NA to win over Seneca Valley in WPISL Quarterfinals

Viola Laswell and Zoey Bornt each collected four hits as the North Allegheny Tigers defeated Seneca Valley 20–6 on Saturday afternoon. Lily Daugherty added three hits in four at-bats, including a home run.
Seneca Valley opened the scoring in the top of the first, using four singles and a North Allegheny error to push across three runs.
North Allegheny flipped the game in the bottom of the second, erupting for nine runs on 10 hits to take a 9–3 lead. The biggest blow of the inning was a two-run home run to right field by Anna Kovacic on a 3–0 count. Jordan Phillips singled in a run, and an Ava Combs single scored two more. Bornt, Olivia Klaich, L. Daugherty, and Amara Daugherty each singled in a run.
The Tigers added five more runs on six hits in the bottom of the third. Phillips doubled to score one, Combs grounded out to bring home another, Bornt singled in a run, and Claudia Kushon doubled to drive in two.
Seneca Valley answered with one run in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
North Allegheny extended the lead to 18–6 in the bottom of the fifth. L. Daugherty homered to center, scoring two, while Kushon grounded out to drive in a run and Kovacic singled in another.
In the bottom of the sixth, an error and an RBI single by Bornt plated two more insurance runs.
Laswell started in the circle for the Tigers and went the distance. She allowed 10 hits and six runs (three earned) over seven innings, walking one.
North Allegheny finished with 26 hits in the win. Kushon, Kovacic, Bornt, Combs each drove in three runs. A. Daugherty also had three hits. Asha Vaders, Megan Sweeney, Kovacic, Klaich, and Phillips each recorded multiple hits.
North Allegheny advances to the WPISL Semifinals where they will take on Bethel Park tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon. The WPISL Championship is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tomorrow.
