NA Advances To WPIAL Finals With 3-2 Win Over Fox Chapel

The North Allegheny boys’ tennis team continued their playoff run by beating a tough Fox Chapel team, 3-2, in the WPIAL Class semifinals on Monday afternoon.

Freshman phenom Advaita Sircar was his usual dominant self at No. 1 singles to get the Tigers on the board first by blanking his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Senior Trey Davidson opened up strong and cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles. The brother-brother combination of senior Adithya Ramadas Guptha and sophomore Adhav Ramadas earned the clinching point of the match with an impressive 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.

Junior Sri Thirmumala and freshman Shivum Telang dropped a close 7-5, 7-6 (6) decision at No. 1 doubles. Senior Amit Bhandari pressed into action at third singles and fought valiantly, but fell 6-1, 7-6 (5).

The team has advanced to the WPIAL title match against defending champion Gateway. The match is scheduled for Wednesday at 3:30 PM at the Janet L. Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Washington and Jefferson College.
