NA Blanks Moon In Three-Set Sweep

The North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team hosted Moon in the first home match of the season at UPMC Court. It was also the first section match of the year for NA, who swept Moon 3-0 by set scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-14.
In set one, North Allegheny jumped out to an early 4-0 lead thanks to a block and kill from senior Nathan May. Senior Brendan Moore went on to register four kills, including the set-clinching point. Senior Matt Chou had two kills, while fellow senior Elliot Swierczynski scored a late-set ace and NA took the first stanza 25-13.
In the second set, senior Will Robertson got the ball rolling with a kill, followed by a block and kill for junior Aaron Starck, who had four blocks in the frame. A kill from senior Luke Conlon made it 13-5 NA. Conlon went on a service run that featured two kills from junior Johnny Mosbacher. North Allegheny took set two 25-13.
Moon put up the most competitive set in the third, taking the early 2-0 lead. A Moore ace and kill combined with another May kill had the Tigers back in the lead. Sophomore Henry Dorn had an ace and a kill in the set, while fellow sophomore Ethan Palmer had two blocks and junior Cole Galupi recorded a kill. NA took set three 25-14.
Moore led the way with nine total kills, earning him Wright Automotive Player of the Game laurels. Senior Emmett Morris led the Tigers with 10 digs while junior Nick Vaccaro also had six. Swierczynski had a team-leading three aces, while sophomore Josh Chou led the Tigers with nine assists. Senior Jackson Failla also recorded seven assists.
North Allegheny improves to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in section play. NA hits the road for a section matchup against Butler on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
