The North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse team visited top-seeded Pine-Richland on Wednesday night and fell by an 18-6 decision in the WPIAL Class 3A quarterfinals.

Pine-Richland sprinted out to a three-goal lead in the first 10 minutes before NA could get on the board. Senior Leigh Failla and junior Isla Abrams provided the first Tiger markers of the contest about 30 seconds apart. Abram’s goal came courtesy of a free position. The Rams responded with a goal 20 seconds later, causing the Tigers to use a timeout. Out of the stoppage, North Allegheny was able to win the ensuing draw control as Failla worked quickly into the offensive zone, finding Abrams in front of the net who then flipped a pass to senior Mila Prusak who scored her first of three on the night. Pine-Richland led 4-3 with 7:30 to play in the first.

Two late Rams goals had PR on top 6-3 at the halftime break. Those tallies would eventually be a part of an eight-goal scoring streak into the second half. Sophomore Avery Anderson scored with less than 13 minutes to play and Prusak added another free position goal not long after, but Pine clamped down in the final stages of the game.

Rams senior Caroline Gentile led all scorers with five goals while sophomore Kendyll Jerry netted four markers. Gentile’s younger sister Cate also tallied three scores.

Prusak took home Wright Automotive Player of the Game honors for her hat trick performance including two free positions. She ends her Tigers career with 87 career goals and 30 this spring. Failla ends her high school career with 69 career scores including 45 this season.

Freshman Fiola Ragan made the start for injured junior Izzie Trunzo and made 12 saves in the contest.

The Tigers end the season with a 9-10 overall record. Pine-Richland will take on Shady Side Academy in the WPIAL Semifinals Monday.
