
NA Boys win first state title since 2019; Girls place fourth
The North Allegheny swimming & diving team concluded their season over the weekend at the PIAA Championships hosted by Bucknell University. The boys’ team won it’s first state championship since the 2018-2019 season (the third of three in a row) and seventh overall while the NA girls finished in fourth place.
The NA boys finished with 215 points, 53 points ahead of runner-up LaSalle College. On Friday, the North Allegheny 200-yard Medley Relay of Danny Lesinski, Gus Miller, Mason Shantz and Dylan Seiford finished in fourth place. Lesinski took the bronze medal in the 200-yard IM. Grant Regule finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle while Miller came in third in the 100-yard butterfly. The Tigers’ 200-yard freestyle relay was the lone individual state champions on the weekend winning the event by 1.2 seconds behind Regule, Miller, Shantz and Zachary Totin. Regule started Saturday with an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle for NA. Lesinski won the silver medal in the 100-yard backstroke while Miller was .13 seconds behind him to take bronze. The NA 400-yard freestyle relay of Lesinski, Totin, Seiford and Regule also won another silver medal. For complete boys’ Saturday results, click here.
In the diving portion of the event, Ethan Maravich collected 16 team points taking home the bronze medal with a score of 493.70. For complete boys diving results, click here.
The NA girls ended the weekend with 171 points. Upper Dublin took home the team state title. On Friday, the 200-yard medley relay team of Dani Hinkson, Tori Tieppo, Eva Ogden and Madden Woycheck finished in seventh place. Claire Bacu claimed silver in the 200-yard freestyle while Ogden, Julianne Weaver, Woycheck and Bacu had a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. On Saturday, Bacu collected another silver medal coming in second in the 500-yard freestyle. Julia Tengowski finished fourth in the event. The Tiger relay team of Ogden, Tengowski, Hinkson and Bacu finished in fifth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay. For complete girls’ Saturday results, click here.
In diving, Juliet Hood won the bronze medal with a score of 450.95 while Maggie Lapina finished in seventh with a 375.05 score. For complete girls diving results, click here.
