NA Breaks 3 Pool Records To Open Season At State College Invitational

All of the hard preseason training is already yielding fruit. In an amazing start to the season, the North Allegheny Girls and Boys teams won the State College Invitational on Saturday. The NA boys broke not one, not two, but three pool records at State College—the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, and the 400 free relay.
In the 200 medley relay, the NA Girls took second, fourth, and eighth place. With our top finishers, Greta Mott, Natalie Sens, Dani Hinkson, and Eva Ogden clocking in at 1:47.43.
The NA Boys took first, third, sixth and, 10th place in the medley relay. The top quartet of William Gao, Gus Miller, Riley Williams, and Grant Regule represented NA at the PIAA championship in 2023 and is back together, breaking the State College Pool record, held since 2019, with a finish of 1:34.66.
In the 200 freestyle, the NA girls took second, fourth, 10th and 15th place. Our top finisher Claire Bacu finished with the time of 1:54.26
The NA boys took third, fifth and eighth place.
Our top finisher, Josh Berty finished with the time of 1:49.47.
In the 200 IM the NA girls took second, fifth, seventh, and eighth place. Our top finisher was Dani Hinkson. She swam a time of 2:08.91.
The NA boys took second, fourth, sixth and eighth place. Our top finisher was Gus Miller, who swam a time of 1:56.84
In the 50 free style, the NA girls took second, fifth, sixth, and 10th place. Our top finisher, Natalie Sens finished with a time of 24.07. The NA boys took first, sixth, seventh and eighth place. Our first place finisher and winner of the event was Grant Regule with a time of 21.13.
In the 100 butterfly, the NA girls came in first, second, fifth and ninth. Our top two finishers were Dani Hinkson with the time of 57.97 and Claire Bacu with a time of 59.72. The NA boys finished first, third, fifth and seventh. Our top finisher and winner of the event was William Gao with a time of 49.77.
In the 100 freestyle, the NA girls took fourth, sixth, ninth, and 12th place. Our top finisher was Eva Ogden with the time of 54.25. The NA boys finish first, fourth, fifth and ninth. Our top finisher and winner of the event was Zachary Totin with the time of 48.22 seconds.
In the 500 free style, the NA girls took third, fifth and seventh place. Our top finisher was Julia Tengowski with a time of 5:21.54. What a way to start freshman year!! The NA boys took second, fourth and fifth place. Our top finisher was Josh Berty with the time of 4:49.59.
In the 200 freestyle relay, the NA girls took third, fifth and seventh place. Our top finishing team of Emma Dietz, Natalie Sens, Eva Ogden, Claire Bacu finished with a time of 1:40.40.
The NA boys brought home first place, third, fourth and ninth place. Our top finishers and winner of the event also broke the pool record which has been Held since 2020! The lightning fast team of Zachary Totin, Gus Miller, William Gao and Grant Regule clocked a time of 1:26.12. Yes, clean your glasses but it really says 1:26.12.
In the 100 backstroke, the NA girls took second, fourth, eighth, and 11th Pl. Our top finisher was Greta Mott with the time of 58.11. The NA boys took third, fourth, fifth, and 11th Pl. Our top finisher was Danny Lesinski with a time of 52.86.
In the 100 breaststroke, the NA girls took first, fifth, sixth, and eighth place. Our top finisher, and winner of the event was Tori Tieppo with a time of 1:06.46. The NA boys took second, sixth, 11th and 12th Pl. Our top finisher was Dylan Seiford with a time of 1:01.70.
In the 400 freestyle relay, the NA girls took second, sixth and 10th Pl. Our top finishing team consisted of Natalie Sens, Dani Hinkson, Greta Mott, Claire Bacu and finished with a time of 3:39.05. The NA boys took first, fourth and sixth place. The top finishing team won the event, and also broke the State College pool record which has been in place since 2006. The greased lightning team of William Gao, Zachary Totin, Grant Regule and Danny Lesinski clocked a time of 3:35.50.
Many of our relay teams made WPIAL cuts. Many of our athletes made individual WPIAL cuts. All of the swimmers and divers contributed points to the wins. For a look at the results from the state college invitational, click here.
North Allegheny returns to action on Wednesday in the first home meet of the year with a non-section matchup against Bethel Park. The meet will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
