NA breaks five pool records en route to sweep of Seneca Valley
North Allegheny traveled to Seneca Valley High School to take on the Raiders in a section showdown on Thursday night. The Tigers broke five pool records at Seneca Valley en route to the boys defeating the Raiders, 109-60, while the NA girls took down Seneca Valley, 107-71.
The North Allegheny relay teams got the night started with wins in the 200 medley relay as the girls quartet of Dani Hinkson, Tori Tieppo, Eva Ogden and Madden Woycheck posted a 1:47.09 while on the boys side, Jackson Ross, Caden Hollenbeck, Logan O’Keefe and Ryan Crane finished in 1:44.00.
Julia Tengowski set the pool record in the girls 200 free with a time of 1:53.63 while Lorelai Quinet (1:59.03) and Charlotte Sunderlin (2:02.64) came in the second and third. On the boys side, Dylan Seiford (1:44.70) finished with the top time while Nate Hilbert (1:49.60) came in third.
The North Allegheny boys and girls claimed the top three spots in the 200 IM. It was Hinkson (2:09.83), Emma Dietz (2:14.71) and Shelby Sundgren (2:16.45) for the girls while Danny Lesinski (1:53.03), Emmanuel Chu (1:59.19) and Peter Ross (1:59.34) were the top finishers for the boys.
Sydney DeHainaut (24.58), Annie Elliott (25.18) and Evey Masztak (25.55) claimed the top three spots for the NA girls in the 50 free while Talon Xing (21.93) was the top finisher on the boys side.
In girls diving, Maggie Lapina (281.10) and Leah Maiolo (214.45) finished first and third respectively. For the boys, Ethan Maravich (290.35) and Anthony Farrah (264.15) were the top two finishers.
It was another sweep of the top three spots for the Tigers in the girls 100 butterfly as Woycheck (59.27), Natalie Reubi (1:00.71) and Angelina Li (1:01.25) claimed the top three spots. Odin Hsu (54.04) and Daniel Laughlin (58.64) finished first and third for the boys.
In the 100 free, Eva Ogden (53.10) and Aubrey Constable (56.50) took first and third for the girls while Nate Hilbert (50.90) was a second-place finisher on the boys side.
Tengowski claimed first in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.71 while Coco Wood (5:24.62) finished second and Quinet (5:28.03) took third on the girls side. For the boys, Jackson Ross (4:38.47), Max Thirkell (4:52.15) and Logan O’Keefe (4:58.94) took home the top three spots.
Both the boys and girls set pool records in the 200 freestyle relay as the girls team of Elliott, Woycheck, Masztak and Ogden finished in 1:38.10 while the boys team of Zachary Totin, Mason Shantz, Hsu and Alex Harbaugh timed out at 1:25.90.
Xing (54.90), Brendan Yatchenko (55.01) and Peter Ross (56.99) placed first through third in the 100 backstroke.
Even though the remainder of the meet was exhibition, the Tigers still broke two more pool records as the boys and girls 400 freestyle relay teams set new marks at the Seneca Valley pool. The girls consisted of Tengowski, Ogden, Hinkson and Woycheck (3:33.95) while the boys team consisted of Totin, Hsu, Lesinski and Seiford (3:10.42).

North Allegheny returns to action on Thursday, February 5 when they host the Pine-Richland Rams at the NASH Pool at 5 p.m. This meet will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
