NA Defeats Unionville In PIAA Quarterfinals, 3-1

The North Allegheny boys’ tennis team advanced to the PIAA Class AAA semifinals with a 3-1 quarterfinal win over Unionville on Thursday from the Hershey Racquet Club.

Unionville, the third-place finisher out of District 1, managed only a victory at No. 2 singles as Tigers wrangled the Longhorns on their way to the state’s final four. At No. 1 singles, freshman Advaita Sircar defeated junior Matt Miller, 7-5, 6-3. Sophomore Evan Kaufman topped junior Andy Ye at No. 3 singles by a 6-3, 6-4, decision.

The No. 2 doubles pairing of sophomore Adhav Ramadas and senior Adtihya Ramadas Guptha locked up the victory for the Tigers by defeating sophomore Elijah Yoon and freshman Brendon Yu, 6-3, 6-3. The No. 1 doubles matchup was not finished. For a look at full scoring, click here.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 18-0 on the season and will take on Conestoga, the runners-up from District 1, in the PIAA semifinals on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The PIAA championship will be held at 4:00 p.m.
