NA Edged by Pine-Richland In Regular Season Finale

The 2022 regular season came to a close on Thursday night with a matchup between two playoff-bound teams in Gibsonia. The North Allegheny field hockey team dropped a narrow 3-1 decision to the Section 1-AAA champion Pine-Richland Rams.

The Rams struck first in the contest on a marker by Kayla Karmanos as the first quarter clock expired for a 1-0 lead. The Tigers knotted the game with 12:19 left in the second quarter when senior Lauren Kampi scored on a tip-in to even the contest at 1-1. With 6:39 left in the second period, Pine-Richland grabbed the lead back on a goal by Madeline Mill for a 2-1 advantage.

The two teams battled throughout the second half before Pine-Richland gained a stranglehold of the game with another goal by Mill in the fourth quarter to close out a 3-1 victory.

North Allegheny ends the regular season with a 12-4-1 overall record and 9-3 mark in Section 1-AAA. Pine-Richland improves to 17-1 overall and 12-0 in the section. The second-seeded Tigers will next face the third-seeded Peters Township Indians in the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals next Thursday, Oct. 27, hosted by top-seed Pine-Richland.
