NA Edges Seneca Valley For Section Sweep

The North Allegheny track and field team earned an exciting home sweep over Seneca Valley on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Tigers cruised to a 93-57 victory, while the NA Boys tied the Raiders 75-75 but earned the triumph via tiebreaker. The first tiebreaker is first-place finishes, which was tied, 9-9. The second tiebreaker came down to second-place finishes and the Tigers edged out the Raiders in that category, 8-7. (Relays are excluded for second-place tiebreaker points).

For the NA Boys, first-place performances by senior Khiryn Boyd (100-meter Dash), senior Michael Gauntner (1600m Run), junior Zach Nash (400m Dash), junior Dylan Langdon (High Jump), senior Zach Duckworth (Pole Vault), junior Nicholas Humphries (Long Jump), junior Jack Yatchenko (Discus Throw and Shot Put). The 4×100 Relay team also took first place.

Earning the crucial second-place points that allowed the NA boys to prevail were junior Jack Bertram (1600m Run), freshman Brady Brinkley (400m Dash), junior Grey Lowman (300m Hurdles), junior Greg Abel (800m Run), Gauntner (3200m Run), sophomore Peter Gibson (Triple Jump), junior Dylan Bobak-Rouce (Javelin Throw) and senior Cameron Chmura (Shot Put). The 4×400 Relay and 4×800 Relay teams also took second place.

The Lady Tigers ran away from the Raiders thanks in part to a first-place trifecta from junior Izzy Costa in the 100m Dash, High Jump and Long Jump. Other first-place efforts were turned in by senior Erin McGoey (1600m Run), sophomore Mackenzie Winning (400m Dash and 200m Dash), senior Eva Kynaston (800m Run), junior Camille Swirsding (3200m Run), sophomore Lindsay Breneman (Pole Vault), sophomore Audrey Maxwell (Discus Throw) and senior Jamie Frisco (Shot Put). The 4×800 and 4×400 Relay teams also garnered first place finishes.

The NA Boys improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Lady Tigers remain unbeaten at 5-0. NATF will take part in the Butler Invitational on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
