NA Girls advance to WPIAL Team Finals

North Allegheny girls’ track & field hosted the WPIAL Team Semifinals on Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers went up against Plum, Kiski Area, Chartiers Valley and Belle Vernon. NA defeated all of them as they beat Plum 128-22, Kiski Area 116-34, Chartiers Valley 111-39 and Belle Vernon 137-13. With the clean sweep, North Allegheny returns to the WPIAL Team Championship for the ninth season in a row. The Tigers were the WPIAL runner-ups a year ago.

The 4×800-meter relay team of Mary Lucas, Madelyn Keiser, Elizabeth Richmond and Abby Gordish came in second place. Lola Hood claimed the top spot in the 100-meter hurdles while Kendra Smith won the 100-meter dash. Samantha Strelick set a PR in the 1600-meter run en route to first place. The NA 4×100-meter relay team placed second. Maya Currie won the 400-meter dash while Madeline Jablonski was third. Elena Farrah and Hood claimed the top two spots in the 300-meter hurdles. Lily Ries and Jablonski were one and two in the 800-meter run. Blake Stotsky finished runner-up in the 200-meter dash. Gabriela Pizon won the 3200-meter run, with Olivia Romanow finishing third. The Tigers’ 4×400-meter relay team finished in first place. Eva Pesci placed third in the high jump while Lindsay Breneman won the pole vault and came in second in the long jump. Lydia Randiga and Avery Ruffus were second and third in the triple jump. Dereon Alualu was second in the discus with Taylor Neese finishing in third. Amara Daugherty and Emma Neese were the top two in javelin. Taylor Neese, Audrey Maxwell, and Lilliana Mascari finished in the top three in shot put.

The Tigers return to action on Thursday when they participate in the Robert Morris Invitational starting at 1 p.m. The WPIAL Team Championships will be on May 5.
