NA Knocks Out Norwin, 8-0, on Senior Night

On Senior Night at Newman Stadium, the North Allegheny field hockey team clobbered the Norwin Knights, 8-0, in a Section 1-AAA contest. Senior Mila Prusak netted a hat trick in the first quarter to jump start the Tigers in the rout. The hat trick gives Prusak 19 goals on the season, earning her Wright Automotive Player of the Game honors.

The Tigers wasted little time getting started as Prusak tallied her first of the night 2:52 into the game for a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Josie Schomburg scored just over two minutes later before Prusak tickled the back of the net with two more goals in the opening stanza for a 4-0 lead.

Junior Isla Abrams scored the only goal of the second, giving her a team-high 24 on the campaign, and sophomore Mia Brinkley posted the lone goal of the third period to increase the NA advantage to 6-0.

In the fourth quarter, seniors Leah Mouganis and Lauren Kampi scored one goal each to close out an 8-0 victory. The goal for Kampi gives her 13 on the season, third best on the squad.

North Allegheny outshot Norwin, 28-0, as senior Jordan Ashbaugh was credited with an easy shutout, the team’s 10th of the season.

Along with Prusak, Mouganis, Kampi and Ashbaugh, fellow seniors Callie Rautenbach, Emily Wachowiak, Sofia Mianzo, Abby Hershberger and Avery Snowden were all recognized before the game.

Following the victory, North Allegheny leaps to 12-3-1 overall and 9-2 in Section 1-AAAA. The blowout victory secures the No. 2 seed for the Tigers in the upcoming WPIAL playoffs. Norwin dips to 3-9 overall and 2-8 in the section. The Tigers will round out the regular season with a visit to Pine-Richland on Thursday night.
