NA Plays To 2-2 Draw With Novi

The North Allegheny field hockey team traveled to Michigan on Friday for a non-section game with Novi High School and played to a 2-2 tie.

The Tigers and Wildcats clawed back and forth throughout the afternoon and it was NA who struck first on a goal by senior Mila Prusak with 6:02 left in the first quarter. Novi tied the score with a second quarter marker but North Allegheny regained the lead with 1:00 to go in the third quarter on a reverse chip by senior Lauren Kampi for a 2-1 advantage. Novi once again managed to tie the score with a goal with just three minutes left in the fourth quarter and the game ended in a 2-2 draw. No overtime period was played since it was a non-section contest.

The score and stats were indicative of an evenly played game. The Tigers held a 9-8 edge in penalty corners and Novi led in shots on goal, 10-5. Senior goalie Jordan Ashbaugh got the start for NA and made eight saves.

North Allegheny sits at 5-5-1 following the tie. The Tigers will remain in the Great Lakes State for a neutral site game against Mercy High School on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Novi, Michigan.
