NA Slow-Pitch Earns Split With Shaler On Senior Day
The NA Lady Tigers Slow-pitch Softball team hosted the Shaler Lady Titans on Sunday, Sept. 21st at Marshall Middle School.
It was Senior Recognition Day for the Tigers and between games the eight Seniors and their parents were recognized: Katelyn Cerutti, Autumn Devine, Alex Grumski, Sarah Olesnevich, Alyssa Stalter, Ashley Tresky, Marlee Tyler, and Sarah Wetzel.
Game #1 was won by the Tigers as their bats awakened and their 14 hit attack was enough to 10-run the Titans, 14-4, in 6 innings. The Tigers were led by Alexis Kruth who went 3 for 3 with a single, double, homerun, and 4 RBIs, Katelyn Cerutti who went 3 for 3 and scored 3 runs, Marlee Tyler who had 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and scored 3 runs, and Bri Wagner who had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. On defense, the Tigers turned 2 double plays and winning pitcher, Aly Stroyne allowed just 2 earned runs.
In game #2, the Titans jumped out to a 6-1 lead after 2 innings and led 12-7 going into the last inning. The Tigers did not quit though, as they scored 5 times to tie the score at 12-12. Alexis Kruth hit a grand slam homerun, her third of the day, to tie the score. Unfortunately, in the bottom of the 7th, the Titans scored on a play at the plate where the runner made contact with NA catcher, dislodging the ball from her grasp, after initially being tagged out.
The Tigers are now 3-5 and will host Peters Township next Sunday.
