On Monday the Tigers traveled to Butler to compete against their section rival, the Golden Tornado.  Overall, North Allegheny demonstrated strong depth and competitiveness across multiple events, with athletes contributing key performances that kept the team competitive throughout the meet.  The Girls team proved to be too much for the Golden Tornado by winning the meet 111-39.  The boys team fell to Butler 82-68.

Top performers for the boys included Sam Cohn winning both hurdle races and being part of the winning 4×400 relay team.  Peter Gibson scored second in the High Hurdles and triple jump and a third place time in the 300 hurdles.  Colin Sefick won the shot put event and teammate Callan Bunger earned second in the same event and a third place throw in the javelin. Isaac Pokorny and Rocco Colaizzi both had amazing performances in the high jump as they earned first and second place, respectively.  Freshman distance runner Gatik Hirwani raced to second place finishes in both the 1600m and 3200m runs.

Event winners for the girls included Lola Hood in the High Hurdle and Low Hurdle races.  Lily Ries won the 1600m and 800m runs.  Maya Currie outsprinted everyone in the 400m dash.  Sprinters Kendra Smith won the 100m dash and Bloke Stotsky won the 200m dash.  In the field events Avery Ruffus won the triple jump and scored second in the long jump.  Taylor Neese won the shot put and placed third in the discus. Audrey Maxwell won the discus and followed up with a second place shot put finish.  Not only did Neese win the javelin event, she also earned third place in the high jump and long jump.  The trio of Ava Thomas, Hannah Seidl, and Lorelei Bungard swept the pole vault claiming all three places in that event.

The Tigers’ next meet will be on Saturday, April 11 at West Mifflin High School as they compete in the TSTCA Invitational.
