NA Takes 1st Place at WPIAL Class 3A Semifinals

The North Allegheny boys’ golf team began its post-season run on Tuesday with a first-place performance at the WPIAL Class 3A team semifinals at Duck Hollow Golf Course. Nine teams participated at the event and only the top three advanced to the WPIAL championship on Thursday. North Allegheny easily qualified by taking the top spot with a team score of 391, followed by Fox Chapel (398) and South Fayette (400). From the other half of the bracket and also advancing to form the final six teams at the WPIAL championship were Peters Township, Indiana and Butler.

Leading the way for the Tigers was sophomore Ravi Desai with a one-over par 73. Sophomore Colin Ward was impressive as well with a 3-over par 75. Senior Jake Watterson carded a 79, followed by fellow senior Jacob Phrampus who check in with an 81. Senior Colin Rende and junior Chris Hoffman rounded out the scoring by each shooting an 83.

North Allegheny advances to the WPIAL Class AAA team championship on Thursday. The team finals will be hosted by Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon.
