NA Wraps Up Regular Season With Sweep Of North Hills
The North Allegheny Swimming and Diving Teams completed WPIAL Section 2 competition undefeated with wins at North Hills on February 11, 2015. The girls won 95-83 and the boys won 105-73, as each team set a pool record in a relay race.
For the girls, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of senior Charlie Brickner, juniors Katie Wright and Gianna Caputo and sophomore Aimee Verardi set a pool record with their time of 3:41.20. First place finishers in individual events were sophomore Lauren McGrath in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.68); senior Morgan Soulia in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.63); sophomore Kaitlyn Edwards in the 50-yard freestyle (25.88); senior Jacquelyn Du in the 100-yard butterfly (59.54); freshman Ann Juneau in the 100-yard freestyle (56.99); and senior Kayla Churman in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.60).
For the boys, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of senior Greg Arnold, junior Dan Songer, sophomore Eben Krigger and freshman Andrew Zhang set a pool record of 1:29.89. First-place finishers in individual events were senior Casey Melzer in the 200-yard individual medley (1:59.14); freshman Mason Gonzalez in the 50-yard freestyle (21.74); Arnold in the 100-yard butterfly (53.12); sophomore Max Gonzalez in the 500-yard freestyle (4:55.05); senior Andrew Lehman in the 100-yard backstroke (57.18); and junior Gage Halle in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.71).
Senior Andrew Doerfler won the boys’ 1-meter diving with a score of 299.90. For full results from Thursday night’s meet, click here.
North Allegheny hosts its annual Last Ditch meet this Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. at North Allegheny Senior High School.
