NATF Opens Season With Sweep of North Hills, Shaler

The North Allegheny track and field team opened the 2024 season with a home section tri-meet against North Hills and Shaler. The Lady Tigers defeated Shaler, 107-25, and beat North Hills, 102-30. The NA Boys prevailed over the Titans, 119-13, and topped the Indians, 95-37.

For the Lady Tigers, first-place performances were turned in by sophomore Maya Currie (100-meter dash and 200m dash), senior Erin McGoey (1600m run and 3200m run), sophomore Ava Thayer (100m hurdles), sophomore Mackenzie Winning (400m dash), senior Jacqueline Junko (300m hurdles), junior Elizabeth Pizon (800m run), junior Isabella Costa (long jump), freshman Mia Barsotti (triple jump) and senior Jamie Frisco (shot put). The NA girls also took first place in the 4×400 relay.

The NA Boys were paced by first-place efforts from junior Greg Abel (1600m run and 800m run), senior Khiryn Boyd (100m dash), freshman Brady Brinkley (400m dash), senior Carson Sestili (200m dash), senior Michael Gauntner (3200m run), junior Nicholas Humphries (long jump), and junior Jack Yatchenko (discus throw and shot put). The Tigers also garnered first place in the 4×100 relay.

Following the season-opening sweep, the North Allegheny track and field team will host Cathedral Prep for a non-section meet on Friday.
