North Allegheny moves to 7-0 with sweep of Mars

Another home meet, another sweep for North Allegheny.
The Tigers were victorious over the Fighting Planets with the boys winning 93-71, and the girls by a score of 96-75.
Maggie Lapina won the diving competition for the girls with a final dive over 55 points and a score of 274.90. Ethan Maravich, who was the only boys diver on the boards for both teams finished with a 260.80 score, with his final dive netting 61.10.
In the 200 Medley Relays, on the girls side, Macey Wentzel, Sydney DeHainaut, Evey Masztak, and Leah Laughlin, won at 1:57.68. For the boys, Brendan Yatchenko, Alex Harbaugh, Odin Hsu, and Jackson Ross, took first at 1:40.26.
For the 200 freestyle events, Shelby Sundgren (1:59.90) and Talon Xing (1:50.46) were the winners. Kate Dudro (2:18.42) and Mason Shantz (2:01.10) finished first in the 200 IM races.
Annie Elliott won the girls 50 free with a time of 24.64. Sophomore Dom Davis for Mars won the first of his two events on the night for the boys, with Nate Hilbert and Emmanuel Chu finishing second and third for the Tigers.
In the 100 fly, Dani Hinkson (58.98) and Adam Quinet (57.38) touched first, as did Eva Ogden (55.17) in the girls 100 free. Davis won that event for Mars, with Shantz and Peter Ross coming in second and third.
Elliott was outstanding in the 500 freestyle, cruising home first at 5:22.75. Hsu (5:03.41) took that event for the boys.
Next up in the 200-freestyle relay, Hinkson, Julia Tengowksi, Madden Woycheck and Eva Zilinski won in an exhibition event. Danny Lesinski, Logan O’Keefe, Caden Hollenbeck, and Shantz, (1:31.71) finished first for the boys.
The final six events were exhibition races; here were the top finishers:
100 Girls Backstroke: Aubrey Constable. 100 Boys Backstroke: Harbaugh.
100 Girls Breaststroke: Zilinski. 100 Boys Backstroke: Lesinski.
400 Girls Freestyle Relay: Tengowksi, Dudro, Sophia Davidson, and Loralei Quinet.
400 Boys Freestyle Relay: Zachary Totin, Chu, Daniel Laughlin, and Xing.
The Wright Automotive Players of the Game were awarded as follows:
Freshman Annie Elliott, with wins in the 50 and 500 freestyle events for the girls. On the boys side, Mason Shantz took home the honor. The senior All-American, won the 200 IM, finished second in the 100 freestyle, and swam the anchor leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay.
North Allegheny hits the pool next Thursday when they host Butler beginning at 5PM. That meet can be heard on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
