North Allegheny Softball Finds Warmth, Sun, and Success in Florida
The North Allegheny Varsity Softball Team traveled to Florida from March 21st -25th to participate in the Disney Spring Training program held at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Kissimmee, Florida.
The Tigers had the opportunity to play in the sunshine against quality opponents from New Jersey and Wisconsin. In the opening “non-official” game (played as a game but with time limits as necessary and modified substitution rules), North Allegheny outscored Gil Saint Bernard (NJ), with every rostered NA player seeing action.
In “official” play, the Tigers fell to defending Regional Champion Chippewa Falls (WI) 6-2. North Allegheny then defeated Blair Academy (NJ) 3-0 behind solid pitching, defense, and timely hitting. NA finished their schedule with a 5-1 loss to Seymour High School (WI) in a game that was close throughout until defensive lapses in the last inning led to the final margin.
The trip offered not only the chance to see live action against solid competition in an excellent venue, but also to bond as a team throughout the on-field and off-field activities. The NA Coaching Staff and Players give our thanks to the North Allegheny Softball Boosters for all of their efforts in planning and providing for our needs before and throughout the trip!
