North Allegheny sweeps Moon in battle of Tigers

North Allegheny improved to 5-0 overall and handed Moon its first loss with a home sweep.
On a night that featured many event sweeps and a lot of WPIAL qualifying times, the North Allegheny boys won 98-74, and the girls were victorious 108-69.
To open the meet, Maggie Lapina (269.45) won the diving competition, while Anthony Farrah continued his strong season with a winning score of 297.25.
It was a pair of sweeps for North Allegheny in the 200 Medley Relays. For the girls, Evey Masztak, Madden Woycheck, Kate Dudro and Leah Laughlin posted a time of 1:58.14. Matthew Lindblad, Caden Hollenbeck, Peter Ross and Danny Lesinski (1:43.70) were the boys winners.
Freshman Annie Elliott won the first individual event, the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.27. Odin Hsu (1:47.34) took first for the boys. The winners in the 200 IM were freshman Sydney DeHainaut (2:16.7504) and Alex Harbaugh (2:01.87).
Julia Tengowksi won the 50 free with a time of 25.20. Moon took 1st and 2nd for the boys with Logan O’Keefe taking third.
Claire Bacu placed second in the 100 fly, while Dylan Seiford (55.46) won that event for the boys.
Shelby Sundgren won the 100 free with a great time of 54.80, Ryan Crane finished second for the boys.
In the distance events, the 500 freestyle, it was senior Tori Tieppo (5:15.71) cruising to a victory, with Lesinski (4:51.55) doing the same on the boys side.
DeHainaut, Emma Dietz, Aubrey Constable and Sophia Davidson won the 200 girls freestyle relay (1:42.56). Ethan Maravich, Adam Quinet, Max Frazer, and Mason Shantz took first for the boys at 1:32.68.
The final six events were exhibition races.
100 Girls Backstroke: Tengowksi. 100 Boys Backstroke: Harbaugh.
100 Girls Breaststroke: Angelina Li. 100 Boys Backstroke: Lesinski.
400 Girls Freestyle Relay: Dietz, Davidson, Elliott, and Bacu.
400 Boys Freestyle Relay: Jackson Ross, Quinet, Emmanuel Chu, and Max Thirkell.
Of note on the evening for the girls, were the efforts of Tori Tieppo, Annie Elliott, and Julia Tengowski, with the junior Tengowski making her 8th WPIAL cut.
For the boys, Dylan Seiford, Alex Harbuagh and Odin Hsu each added two WPIAL cuts, with Peter Ross making his eighth WPIAL cut.
The eighth and final WPIAL cut clinching times factored in for the Wright Automotive Players of the Game.
Shelby Sundgren’s win in the 100 yard-freestyle was her eight WPIAL cut time. And senior captain and Navy recruit Danny Lesinski’s 500 yard-freestyle win was also his eighth WPIAL cut.
There are two meets on the schedule next week for North Allegheny. They will visit Bethel Park on Tuesday, before the Tigers host Mars next Thursday, which will be carried on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
