North Allegheny Sweeps Shaler on Senior Night
by: Bob Orkwis
North Allegheny faced an undermanned Shaler team at home in Wexford on Senior Night, and the Tigers remained undefeated in dual meets this season, beating the Titans 90-57 on the girls’ side, and 87-56 on the boys.
With no Titans divers participating, it was all Tigers, Maggie Lapina, Leah Maiolo, Lola Hood for the girls, Anthony Farrah, and Ethan Maravich for the boys.
The North Allegheny divers did well with internal competition, as there were two 9.0 scores received, and five divers scored over 50 points for a dive. Lapina led the girls, with Maravich scoring over three hundred points (300.05) with a final dive score of 61.20 for the boys.
It would not be the last we would see from the divers on the night, as there was an all-girls diving team participating in the 200-freestyle relay. Farrah and Maravich also swam in that event for the boys.
It was all North Allegheny in the swimming events, starting with the 200 medley relays.
Dani Hinkson, Tori Tieppo, Eva Ogden, and Madden Woycheck won for the girls (1:49.83).
Zachary Totin, Emmanuel Chu, Danny Lesinski, and Mason Shantz, had a winning time of 1:35.33 on the boys’ side.
In the 200 free, Loralei Quinet (1:58.60) and Jackson Ross (1:47.52) were the winners. Eva Zilinski (2:14.60) and Jackson Ross again (2:03.64) were victorious in the 200-yard IM event.
In the 50 free, it was Ogden (25.07) and Totin (21.14) winning, with Hinkson (58.39) and Totin (51.04) again as the winners in the 100 fly.
Freshman Aubrey Constable (55.60) and Lesinski (46.91) were the winners in the 100 free, which sent the rest of the competition into exhibition races.
