Strong Showing by both offenses in Tigers loss to Bethel Park

On Sunday, the North Allegheny Varsity Tigers celebrated seniors Emily Clark, Olivia Klaich, Ana Kovacic, Claudia Kushon, and Asha Vaders, along with their families, before Game 1 of their matchup with Bethel Park.
Despite a strong day at the plate, the Tigers fell to Bethel Park, 25-9 in Game 1. Bethel Park collected 28 hits, while North Allegheny tallied 15.
Bethel Park jumped out to an early lead, scoring six runs in the first inning and adding six more in the third.
North Allegheny answered in the bottom of the first with three runs, highlighted by an RBI from Kushon and a two-RBI single from Viola Laswell. The Tigers added another in the second when Kushon doubled in a run.
Bethel Park extended its lead with three more runs in the fourth. The Tigers responded again in the fifth when Zoey Bornt drove in a run, Lily Daugherty singled home another, and Amara Daugherty tripled to bring in two more.
The game broke open in the seventh inning as Bethel Park plated 10 runs on seven hits. North Allegheny managed one more run in the bottom of the frame.
Laswell started in the circle for the Tigers, striking out one and walking three.
Offensively, the Tigers stayed competitive with 15 hits. A. Daugherty went a perfect 4-for-4, Klaich added three hits, and L. Daugherty contributed two. Bornt, Kushon, Kovacic, Clark, and Vaders each chipped in with a hit.
The Tigers couldn’t keep up with Bethel Park in Game 2, falling 18–7.
The Tigers started strong, extending their early lead in the top of the second inning when Clark doubled and Bornt grounded out, each driving in a run.
Bethel Park responded in the bottom of the second, erupting for nine runs on eight hits to take an 11–5 lead. They added seven more runs on nine hits in the fourth inning to pull away.
Klaich got the start in the circle for North Allegheny, striking out one and walking three.
At the plate, Kovacic and Megan Sweeney each collected two hits. Clark went 1-for-1 with two RBIs, while Klaich, L. Daugherty, A. Daugherty, and Laswell each added a hit.
Bethel Park tallied 23 hits overall.
The Tigers will return to action on Sunday when they host Shaler.
