Three Tigers commit for Track & Field

Three North Allegheny track & field members made their commitments to the next level on Friday afternoon. Maya Currie committed to Duquesne University, Greg Gedman made his official decision to go to Purdue Fort Wayne while Audrey Maxwell signed the dotted line to go to Slippery Rock.

Currie is a National Honor Society member, an AP Scholar Award winner and a recipient of the North Allegheny scholar-athlete award. Her personal bests are 12.79 in the 100m, 25.98 in the 200m, 57.90 in the 400m and 2:16.89 in the 800m. Currie will major in biology at Duquesne.

Gedman is also a North Allegheny scholar-athlete. His personal bests in the indoor circuit are a 7.12 in the 60m and a 22.54 in the 200m. Outdoors, his best times are 11.00 in the 100m, 22.36 in the 200m and 20-5 in the long jump. Gedman will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology at Purdue Fort Wayne.

Maxwell will be joining a Slippery Rock team who are the defending PSAC Champions in both indoor and outdoor track & field. They have claimed the PSAC Championship in the outdoor season 18 times along with a top-10 national finish in 2000. Maxwell will major in exercise science at Slippery Rock.

North Allegheny continues their track & field season today when they travel to Butler to take on the Golden Tornado at 3:45 p.m.
