Three Tigers Ink Letters Intent To Play College Field Hockey

Three members of the North Allegheny field hockey team signed their letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic career. Seniors Lauren Kampi (Millersville University), Sofia Mianzo (University of Rochester) and Leah Mouganis (Concordia University of Wisconsin) all inked their LOI’s on Thursday.

Kampi earned WPIAL All-Star accolades last fall and netted 14 goals to finish with 32 markers in her illustrious career. Kampi will join a Millersville program in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC – NCAA Division II) that went 16-5 in 2022 and reached the conference championship game.

Mianzo, unfortunately, sustained a season-ending injury in the 2022 season opener but remained a source of inspiration for the team on the sideline. During her junior campaign in 2021, Mianzo received WPIAL Class 3A honorable mention laurels and finished third on the team in scoring with nine goals. Mianzo will play for a Rochester program that perennially challenges for a conference title in the Liberty League in NCAA Division III. Last season, Rochester went 17-6 and reached the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid and posted an opening round win, 2-0, over the University of New England before bowing out in the second round.

Mouganis, a defensive stalwart for the Tigers, also garnered WPIAL All-Star honors and helped the team post 11 shutouts last season. Mouganis heads to a relatively new field hockey program at Concordia, which just completed its seventh season in the Southern Athletic Association in NCAA Division III.

Kampi, Mianzo and Mouganis have all been pivotal members of North Allegheny’s success over the last four seasons, including four straight WPIAL playoff appearances and back-to-back appearances in the WPIAL championship game in that span.
