For the second time this season, North Allegheny fell to Mt. Lebanon 3-2 in a 3A field hockey contest. After losing on the road earlier in the season, the Blue Devils handed the Tigers their second section loss.

Mt. Lebanon capitalized on its first two penalty corners in the opening quarter to take a 2-0 lead.

Just a minute into the game, Maggie Vines found Aubrey Betler in front for the early goal. The roles reversed at 9:34, when Betler assisted on a Vines goal.

North Allegheny got on the board with a penalty corner goal of their own. Addison Burns received the insert just outside of the top of the arc, and her shot tipped off a Blue Devil defender and into the net to make the score 2-1.

Mt. Lebanon got a huge goal and the eventual game winner while down a player early in the 4th quarter.

Olive Skocik, who just had a shot slide past the near post, stayed in the circle and when she got a second opportunity, she banked a shot off the left post at 3:21 for a 3-1 lead.

The Tigers did not quit and climbed to within a goal at 7:13 of the quarter.

Grace Gavran fed a pass into the circle from the right wing, which bounced up to Gia Gross, and the junior was able to tip the ball up in the air and into the net for her fifth goal of the year to make the score 3-2. Gross has scored four goals in the last two games.

Unfortunately, North Allegheny could not find the tying goal, and the Tigers saw their three-game winning streak end.

Sydney Bragunier made four saves in goal for the Tigers.

Continuing her strong play from the midfield, Burns was named Wright Automotive Player of the Game. The tally for the senior was her fourth goal of the campaign.

North Allegheny is back home on Monday, when defending 2A champion Fox Chapel comes to Wexford for a 7:30 start that will be carried live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
