Tigers back in win column with 3-2 victory over Magnificat (OH)
North Allegheny hosted Magnificat (OH) on Saturday afternoon at Newman Stadium in a non-section matchup. The Tigers fell down 2-0 early but stormed back to defeat Magnificat, 3-2.
Both Magnificat goals came in the first period at 12:43 and 3:10 to take a 2-0 lead going into the second quarter. The Tigers got the offense going in the second frame when Kaylee Volk cut the Magnificat lead in half with 9:12 left in the period. Davia Gross tied the scored up with 4:27 remaining in the second. The back-breaking goal came with 46 seconds left in the half when Emilia Barrerio found the back of the net to give NA the 3-2 lead at halftime.
After a scoring barrage in the first half, both defenses buckled down and there was no scoring in the second half to give the Tigers a 3-2 victory.
Alaina Roth made seven saves in net. Fiola Ragan was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game for her efforts on the defensive end.
North Allegheny improves to 4-5-3 overall. The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they host the Norwin Knights at Newman Stadium at 7:30 p.m. This will be Senior Night and the game will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
