Tigers Batter Rams, 16-1

After a 15-day game hiatus due to flooding and a solar eclipse, the North Allegheny Tigers returned to the diamond and defeated the Pine-Richland Rams 16-1 after four innings of play.

The offense struck first in the top of the first inning after a dropped third strike scored one run, and senior Julia Drazga singled, scoring two more. The Tigers then extended their 3-0 lead in the second inning thanks to home runs by junior Sammy Plotsko and sophomore Taylor Neese, scoring two runs apiece and making the score 7-0. The Tigers scored four more runs in the third; senior Anne Melle hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Plotsko homered for a second time, scoring three additional runs.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Tigers scored their final four runs of the game. Drazga and sophomore Avelyn Kropf each singled, scoring one run apiece. Junior McKenna Rowlands grounded out, scoring a run, and Melle homered, scoring two runs.

The Tigers tallied 13 hits, including four home runs, during Tuesday’s contest. Plotsko’s home runs earned her six RBIs, Melle’s earned her three, and Neese’s earned her two. Drazga went 3-for-3, totaling three RBIs on the day, while Rowlands went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Sammy Plotsko pitched four complete innings, holding the Rams’ offense to two hits and one run. She struck out one and walked two.

The Tigers will host the Norwin Knights tomorrow night; first pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
