The North Allegheny boys’ tennis team began the defense of their 2024 WPIAL title with a dominant win at home against neighboring Hampton on Monday afternoon at the North Allegheny tennis courts.

As happened so many times during his freshman campaign, sophomore Advaita Sircar got the Tigers on the board first with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #1 singles. Senior Sri Thirumala used a marathon first game to figure out his Talbot opponent at 2nd singles to cruise to a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Man of the Match honors belong to newly minted senior co-captain Nick Scheuring who got his first varsity start and win at 3rd singles, 6-1, 6-0.

The attention then turned to doubles where the Tigers looked to complete the shutout. After having played almost exclusively with his brother last year, junior co-captain Adhav Ramadas paired with rookie sophomore Ronit Ginde to easily defeat the Hampton first doubles team, 6-1, 6-0. Rounding out the victory were two more first-time starters junior Anish Ramachandruni and sophomore Dylan Pak who won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles.

North Allegheny starts the season 1-0 overall. Up next, the Tigers travel to take on perennial powerhouse Mt. Lebanon tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
