The North Allegheny boys’ tennis team continued their playoff preparations by taking on some of the best teams the WPIAL has to offer. After trouncing Fox Chapel on Monday, the Tigers traveled back to the same neck of the woods to take on another WPIAL contender. Same neighborhood, same result as the visitors beat up on Shady Side Academy, 5-0.

Senior captain Evan Kaufman got NA on the board first with a 6-0, 6-1 demolition at third singles. Junior captain Advaita Sircar dropped the first game, then rattled off twelve straight to double the lead, 6-1, 6-0. The all-junior team of Shivum Telang and Ronit Ginde, still angry over their WPIAL Doubles exit, thrashed their second doubles opponent in “double bagel” fashion, 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the victory. Their performance garnered them Men of the Match honors.

Junior Ashwin Sudhakar has embraced his role as the team’s second singles player as he continued his dominance over WPIAL challengers, 6-1, 6-1. Finally, as afternoon turned to evening, the first doubles team of seniors Adhav Ramadas and Matthew Kampi drew out the inevitable before completing the sweep, 7-5, 7-6 (5).

Tomorrow the team will wrap up regular season play with one last playoff primer when they travel to perennial powerhouse, Peters Township. Match time is set for 3:30 PM.
