Tigers blast Moon
In a matchup of Tigers, it was the team from North Allegheny that took down their Moon counterparts in dominating fashion, 5-0 at the North Allegheny tennis courts on Monday afternoon.
Sophomore and newly dubbed tri-captain, Advaita Sircar immediately staked the home team to a 1-0 lead by dismantling Moon’s Nolan Jaczcar at 1st singles, 6-0, 6-0. The other captains, senior Nick Scheuring and junior Adhav Ramadas quickly doubled the lead by stifling the Moon 1st doubles team by a similar score of 6-0, 6-0. Making his second straight start at 2nd singles was senior Sri Thirumala who clinched the win as well as Man of the Match honors with his dominating performance, 6-1, 6-0.
At 2nd doubles, sophomore Shivum Telang, who earlier in the day survived an almost disastrous trip off of the bus, partnered with fellow sophomore Ronit Ginde for the second straight match. The duo overcame some early mental lapses, no doubt brought on by the harrowing bus incident, to vanquish their opponents, 6-4, 6-0. The final contest of the afternoon was decided by junior Anish Ramachandruni as he clawed past Ben Tatala at 3rd singles, 6-2, 6-2.
North Allegheny has now won seven matches in a row to move to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the section. Moon falls to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in section play. Tomorrow, Sircar and Thirumala will represent the Tigers at the section singles tournament. Matches are set to begin at 11:00 AM on the NASH courts.
