Tigers Claw Past Planets

The Boys’ Tennis Team defeated a cold, gale-force wind as well as the visiting Mars Planets to improve to 6-1 on the season at the North Allegheny tennis courts on Monday afternoon.
Sophomore sensation Advaita Sircar made quick work of Mars’ Ethan Palmer at 1st singles to stake the home team to an early 1-0 lead, 6-1, 6-0. The incredibly reliable all-captain team of senior Nick Scheuring and Adhav Ramadas increased the lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 thrashing at 2nd doubles. The rest of the matches would not be so easy. Junior Anish Ramachandruni got down early but battled back at 3rd singles to clinch the match for the Tigers, 6-4, 6-0. As the rain began to fall and the winds picked up, the 2nd doubles team of senior Sri Thirumala and sophomore Shivum Telang found their stride to vanquish their opponents, 6-4, 6-2.
All eyes now turned to the court of sophomore Ronit Ginde to see if the 2nd singles player could finish off the sweep. After dropping the first set 6-4, Ginde battled back to win the second set 6-3. It would come down to a match tiebreak that saw the players exchange breaks and holds. Eventually, Ginde prevailed 12-10 to secure his first singles win of the season as well as Man of the Match honors.
North Allegheny improves to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the section. Mars falls to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in section play. The Tigers continue their journey through Section 2-AAA play by traveling to neighboring North Hills on Wednesday. The match time is set for 3:30.
