Tigers Defeat Rams to Move to 4-1

On a windy, sun-soaked afternoon, the NA Boys’ Tennis Team opened section play by defeating neighboring rival Pine Richland, 4-1 at the North Allegheny tennis courts on Wednesday afternoon.
The Man of the Match Award goes to sophomore Shivum Telang who made his first start of the year by teaming with his old partner, senior Sri Thirumala at 2nd doubles. The pair got the Tigers on the board quickly by trouncing their opponents, 6-1, 6-0. The all-captain team of senior Nick Scheuring and junior Adhav Ramadas doubled the lead by taking care of business at 1st doubles, 6-3, 6-1. The clinching point followed almost immediately as sophomore Advaita Sircar survived a scare in the second set only to stage a furious comeback at 1st singles, 6-1, 6-4.
Junior Anish Ramachandruni got his first singles win of the season by downing his Ram opponent at 3rd singles, 6-1, 6-2. With the match already decided, sophomore Ronit Ginde succumbed to the remnants of an illness and his 2nd singles opponent, 6-4, 1-3, Ret.
North Allegheny improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in section play. Pine-Richland falls to 2-3 overall, 1-2 in the section. The Tigers travel to perennial powerhouse Upper St. Clair tomorrow. Match time is set for 3:30.
