Tigers down Panthers

On a sunny, but chilly Friday afternoon, the NA boys’ tennis team defeated Franklin Regional 3-2 to take their win streak to four matches at the North Allegheny tennis courts.
For the second match in a row, old partners reunited to get the Tigers on the board as sophomore Shivum Telang and senior Sri Thirumala shut out their opponents, 6-0, 6-0 at 2nd doubles. The all-captain team of senior Nick Scheuring and junior Adhav Ramadas similarly silenced their Panther counterparts enroute to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at 1st doubles to take a 2-0 lead for the Tigers.
All eyes now turned to the three singles matches. Sophomore Ronit Ginde fought hard but fell at 2nd singles, 6-3, 6-0 to make the score 2-1. Fortunately, the Tigers have the defending WPIAL champion at 1st singles. Sophomore Advaita Sircar took on Franklin Regional’s Collin Stalnaker at #1 singles, Sircar left no doubt in his match’s outcome or the team’s, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win to clinch the victory. Man of the Match honors go to sophomore Dylan Pak who was once again pressed into duty at 3rd singles. He gave the talented Prem Nadasen all he could handle before succumbing, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
North Allegheny improves to 5-1 overall. Franklin Regional falls to 3-2 overall. Next up, the Tigers get back to section play by hosting Mars on Monday at 3:30 pm.
