Tigers Fall To Blue Streaks, 2-0

Hosting another top field hockey program from out of state, the North Allegheny Tigers fell to Magnifact (OH) on Saturday afternoon, 2-0.

A day after making 30 saves against Novi (MI), junior goalie Kayla Joyce had another outstanding performance and made an eye-popping 48 saves against Magnificat. With the Blue Streaks held in check, the game was scoreless through one half of play.

With consistent pressure throughout the afternoon, Magnificat was finally able to break through against Joyce and the Tigers when senior Lauren Shaver scored with 11:21 remaining in the third quarter for a 1-0 lead. In the fourth period, the Blue Streaks tacked on some insurance for a 2-0 lead with 8:50 left in the game on a goal by Vanessa Roth, assisted by Emme Ripepi.

For her efforts, Joyce was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game by the North Allegheny Sports Network.

Following the loss, North Allegheny slips to 3-4-1 overall, while Magnificat improves to 8-1 on the season. The Tigers return to section play with a visit to Allderdice on Monday.
