Tigers Fall To Planets in Section Finale
With a section title at stake, the North Allegheny boys’ golf team traveled to Rittswood Golf Course to challenge the Mars Planets but came up just short, falling 187-205.
North Allegheny was led by a pair of 40’s from junior Collin Wang and sophomore Chris Hoffman. Junior Jake Watterson followed closely behind with a 41, while senior Ethan Byrne and freshman Colin Ward added a pair of 42’s. The low scores on the day went to Mars with a pair of 36’s from Blake Bertolo and James Kinghorn.
Despite the loss, North Allegheny takes second place in the section and qualifies for the WPIAL playoffs in two weeks. The Tigers sit at 11-3 overall and finish section play with a 7-3 mark. NA will visit Shady Side Academy next week for a non-section tune-up ahead of the WPIAL postseason.
