On Monday, the NA Boys’ Tennis Team took down Fox Chapel for the second time in two weeks. This time, however, a trip to the WPIAL Final was on the line and the Tigers made sure they were headed back to the Championship match for the fourth straight year as they routed the Foxes, 5-0.

Leading the way for the top-seeded Tigers was once again junior captain Advaita Sircar. He wasted little time in downing his Foxes opponent at first singles, 6-0, 6-0. Spectacular senior captain Evan Kaufman followed up with an impressive 6-1, 6-3 shellacking at third singles to double the lead. The clinching point came off the racquets of senior captain Adhav Ramadas and senior Matthew Kampi as they cruised, 6-2, 6-2 at first doubles. The win ensured Ramadas will become the lone Tiger netter to play in all four WPIAL title matches granting him Man of the Match honors.

Junior Ashwin Sudhakar, delayed a bit by AP testing, made up for lost time by dismantling his second singles adversary, 6-2, 6-4. Attention shifted to second doubles to see if a sweep was in the making. While juniors Shivum Telang and Ronit Ginde played with their food, they still prevailed, 6-3, 7-5 for the Tigers’ 16th straight victory.

Today, the Tigers travel to the Janet Swanson Tennis Center at Washington and Jefferson College to square off against Upper St. Clair in the WPIAL Championship. It will be the first meeting between the two teams this season as the Tigers look to win their second title in the past three years. Match time is set for 2:00 PM.
