The North Allegheny boys’ tennis team began their playoff preparations with a trip to perennial powerhouse Fox Chapel. The Section 3 Champion Foxes were no match for the Tigers as the visitors prevailed, 4-1.

Senior captain Adhav Ramadas and junior Matthew Kampi got off to a slow start as they dropped the first game. That was the only glitch of the day for the tandem as they rattled off twelve straight games to take down their first doubles adversaries, 6-1, 6-0. The win gave the Tigers a lead they would not surrender and was enough to garner the pair Men of the Match honors. Junior captain Advaita Sircar would double the lead in short order by eliminating his first singles foe, 6-0, 6-2. The clinching point came from the second doubles team of juniors Shivum Telang and Ronit Ginde. The duo looked primed for their second straight WPIAL Doubles appearance by silencing their counterparts, 6-3, 6-0.

Attention then turned back to singles to see if a sweep was in order. Junior standout Ashwin Sudhakar took care of business at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Anish Ramachandruni, filling in for a resting Evan Kaufman, unfortunately came up just short, 5-7, 3-6. Still, the Tigers take the win and remain undefeated at 11-0.

Next up, four Tigers will compete in the WPIAL Doubles Championships tomorrow at NASH. Sudhakar and Kampi received the top seed in the draw while Telang and Ginde will also look to advance from the third spot. Matches are set to begin at 11:00 AM in “The Cage”.
