Tigers Outlast Blue Devils, 3-0

In the Section 1-AAA opener, the North Allegheny field hockey team blanked the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils, 3-0, on Tuesday night.

The Tigers traveled to the South Hills for what turned out to be a defensive struggle through three quarters of play. Scoreless heading into the fourth period, North Allegheny netted three goals in the final three minutes of the game to determine the outcome. Senior Lauren Kampi finally broke the ice with 3:08 remaining to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Junior Isla Abrams put the game away with two goals with 1:45 and 58 seconds on the clock.

Senior goalie Jordan Ashbaugh made seven saves to post her first shutout of the season. The Tigers outshot the Blue Devils, 15-7, and led in penalty corners, 8-6.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in Class 3A. The Tigers will host the Peters Township Indians on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
