North Allegheny ran its modest winning streak to three games, and the Tigers have now won five of their last six games with a 5-0 3A win over Hempfield at Newman Stadium.

The Tigers played most of the first three quarters in and around the circle in the Hempfield end and could have had several more goals if not for the stellar play of the Spartans goalie Keelin Sullivan.

North Allegheny had some pressure and chances early and finally broke the ice at the 7:25 mark of the 1st quarter.

On an extended penalty corner, the ball found its way to the right wing and was sent across by Grace Gavran, where Gia Gross put it into the goal for her 9th of the season.

Then, near the end of the half, Davia Gross found the ball after a long hit from Addison Burns and scored her 7th goal of the year for a 2-0 Tigers lead.

Gia Gross scored her second goal of the night, converting a beautiful passing sequence from Burns to Reagan Hall on the right side, to the opposite post to make the score 3-0.

Gavran then added her 9th of the year on another penalty corner sequence at 12:43 for a 4-0 halftime lead.

Gia Gross completed the hat trick at 5:20 of the third quarter for her 11th goal and the game’s final marker in the win for the Tigers.

For the second time this season, North Allegheny (8-5-1, 5-3) did not allow Hempfield a shot on goal and goalie Sydney Bragunier. The Tigers had 12 penalty corners in the game, and to the Spartans’ credit, they did earn a pair of corners in the final quarter.

With her hat trick, the second of the year versus Hempfield, Gia Gross was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game. The junior forward now leads the Tigers in goals.

It is a road game tomorrow night at Mt. Lebanon for North Allegheny before Hempfield comes back to Wexford on Thursday afternoon. That contest with the Spartans is a continuation of a game from September 9th in which the Tigers had a 3-0 lead after the first quarter, and it will be played at the Intermediate School, resuming at 3:00 pm.
