The North Allegheny boys’ tennis team won their 10th straight match overall and their 6th straight by shutout as they routed Seneca Valley, 5-0 on Monday afternoon at Seneca Valley High School.

Junior Evan Kaufman made a spot start at 1st singles in place of WPIAL silver medalist Advaita Sircar and made quick work of Seneca Valley’s Marco Lopez, 6-0, 6-0. The 1st doubles team of senior Nick Scheuring and junior Adhav Ramadas immediately doubled the lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of their Raider counterparts. The clinching point came at 2nd doubles as sophomores Shivum Telang and Ronit Ginde downed their adversaries, 6-0, 6-2. Man of the Match honors went to Telang as he not only won his match but survived yet another near disastrous bus incident.

At 2nd singles, senior Sri Thirumala continued his strong play by taking care of business, 6-0, 6-0. It was up to junior Anish Ramachandruni to complete the sweep. After getting off to a slow start and 2-1 deficit, Ramachandruni rallied to win the next 11 games securing the shutout, 6-2, 6-0.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 11-1 overall and 7-0 in the section. The Tigers have defended their Section 2-3A crown to guarantee a playoff appearance and one of the top seeds in the WPIAL Team Championships.

Tomorrow, Schuering, Ramadas, Telang, and Ginde will compete in the Section 2-3A doubles tournament to be held at the NASH courts. Matches are set to begin at 12:00 PM.
