Tigers Sweep Fort Cherry In Regular Season Finale

North Allegheny swept a double-header from the Fort Cherry Rangers on Sunday, October 13, with wins of 15-4 and 14-12.  In game one, the Tigers jumped out to an early lead, scoring seven times in the top of the first inning.  NA added four more runs in the second inning and three more in the third and cruised to a 15-4 win.  Leading the NA offense was Alexis Kruth with two singles, a homerun, two RBI’s and three runs scored. Lauren Randolph had two singles, a double, a walk and two RBI’s.  Aly Stroyne, the winning pitcher, contributed two singles, a walk and an RBI.

In game two, the Tigers had a 9-1 lead after five inning before Fort Cherry rallied in the sixth inning seven runs on nine hits. North Allegheny answered with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 14-8 lead going into the last inning.  Pacing the Tigers was Kristen Kovalchik with a lead-off homerun and two singles.  Katelyn Cerutti was 3 for 4 with two singles, a double and five RBI’s. Lauren Randolph continued to hit in game two with a 3 for 4 performance and two RBI’s. Alexx Grumski had a big pinch hit two-run double in the bottom of the sixth.

North Allegheny improves to 7-7 overall and will host the Seneca Valley Raiders in the opening round of the WPISL on Saturday, October 26.  First pitch is slated for noon.  For a complete look at the brackets for this weekend’s tournament, hosted by North Allegheny, click here.
