Tigers Roar Past Yellowjackets In Section Tilt

North Allegheny Girls Lacrosse earned a 13-3 section win over Freeport at Newman Stadium Saturday morning.

Senior Avery Anderson started the NA attack early, registering her first of three goals with 11:30 left in the first quarter. Sophomore Regan Riordan, freshman Briana Elias and senior Isla Abrams also scored in the first frame as the Tigers held a 4-0 lead.

Anderson and Abrams each scored two more goals to complete hat tricks before halftime. Freeport freshman Macy Edwards notched the first Yellowjacket marker of the contest with five minutes left before the break. NA led 8-1 at the half.

The Tigers kept the offense rolling in the second half, as junior Viola Del Vecchio, freshman Sarah Harlan and Riordan each tallied goals. North Allegheny led 11-1 through three frames.

All scoring in the fourth quarter took place with less than five minutes remaining. Freeport’s Edwards scored two more free position goals to earn a hat trick, while senior Maya Evans notched her first of the year. Freshman Gracie Lynch added the final goal with less than 10 seconds to play.

Anderson earned Wright Automotive Player of the Game laurels for her six-point game, adding three assists along with the hat trick.

The Tigers improve to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in section play. NA is back in action with a road section matchup against Shady Side Academy Tuesday evening.
