Tigers Tally Thirteen To Top Tribe
The North Allegheny Varsity Softball Team entertained the North Hills Indians on Thursday evening at NASH Field and came away with a 13-0, five-inning victory behind the shutout pitching of senior Sami Beining and a strong offensive showing from the Tiger bats. Beining went all five innings, surrendering just two hits while striking out four and walking one to raise her record to 4-1 on the season. The Tigers played errorless ball behind Beining for all five innings of the contest.
For North Allegheny, the offense came from throughout the lineup, highlighted by a three-for-four performance from sophomore catcher Liz Scherer, including two doubles and two runs batted in, and from junior center fielder Laura Cotter, who had the evening’s only home run on a blast to deep center field and a total of four runs batted in for the game.
With the win, North Allegheny raises its overall record to 7-2 on the season while holding a 4-2 mark in Section 3-AAAA. The Tigers next scheduled game is at Pine-Richland on Saturday afternoon, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM.
